Donald Trump announced that his youngest daughter, Tiffany, is expecting her first child.
The 78-year-old former president revealed the news during a speech at the Detroit Economic Club, sharing that Tiffany, 30, whom he shares with ex-wife Marla Maples, is pregnant with her husband Michael Boulos’ child. Michael, 27, is the son of Dr. Massad Boulos, whom Trump acknowledged during his remarks.
“He happens to be the father of Tiffany’s husband, Michael, who’s a very exceptional young guy,” Trump said. “And she’s an exceptional young woman. And she’s going to have a baby. So that’s nice.”
Tiffany has not yet commented publicly on her pregnancy, but a spokesperson confirmed the news to PEOPLE.
Tiffany and Michael, who hails from a wealthy Lebanese family with business ties in Nigeria, married in November 2022 at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
The couple started dating in 2018 after meeting at Lindsay Lohan’s club in Mykonos, Greece. They got engaged in January 2021, just before Trump left office, with Boulos proposing in the White House Rose Garden using a $1.2 million diamond ring. Tiffany shared the engagement news on Instagram, posting a photo of the couple on the White House grounds.
“It has been an honor to celebrate many milestones, historic occasions and create memories with my family here at the White House, none more special than my engagement to my amazing fiancé Michael! Feeling blessed and excited for the next chapter!” she wrote.
During her father’s presidency, Tiffany often remained out of the spotlight, rarely appearing publicly and maintaining a distant relationship with him.
“They always had a strained relationship her whole life, and it got exacerbated by the presidency,” a source close to Tiffany told PEOPLE in 2018.
Raised primarily in Calabasas, California, by her mother, Marla Maples, Tiffany had a more independent upbringing compared to her half-siblings Ivanka, Eric, and Donald Jr. Maples told PEOPLE in 2016, “That was my choice, raising her outside of the spotlight.”
A source close to the Trump family added, “Tiffany didn’t get to be as intimately involved with the family dynamic as Ivanka, Eric and Donnie Jr. She doesn’t really talk about her dad a lot. She’s always been somewhat independent of the whole family.”
